Fernando Lui

Senior Colorist and Founder

Fernando started his career back in 2001, as a Junior Colorist at Casablanca Finish, one of the biggest post-production companies of Latin America, at that time. During 5 years, he worked in color projects with film, in a vast array of telecine equipments, such as Ursa Gold, Diamond, ITK Millennium and Spirit 2K, with Pogle and Da Vinci 2K consoles.  Fernando’s work quickly gained prominence in the advertising market and in 2004, two campaigns he color-graded gained awards in the Cannes Lions Festival.

In 2005 he joined Cinecolor, a Chilean entertainment-driven multinational, with many feature films released. After 5 years as a Colorist there, he became the Head of the Color Grading and DI departments, working hands-on with many awarded projects, such as the movie “The Way He Looks”, the Official Brazilian Foreign Language Entry at the 87th Academy Awards and winner of other festival, such as as a Teddy Award at Berlin Film Festival.

In 2013 he joined Clan VFX, a visual effects company in Sao Paulo, where he built and led their Color Grading department until 2016, when he founded Marla.

Since then, Fernando has opened a new Marla unit in Barcelona where he currently lives, continuing to develop his distinctive visual style and sensibility, in collaboration with the main directors and producers in Brazil and abroad, building a vast portfolio with major brands worldwide, such as Nike, Budweiser, Ford, VW, Corona, Under Armor, Coca Cola, Samsung, among many others, coloring some of the most iconic commercials awarded at festivals such as Cannes, Adnd , Ciclope, El Ojo.
